Participants arrive at 8:00 AM at the old "Main Entrance" of the Zoo on Sloat Blvd. at 45^th Avenue. There you will sign-in, have a hot beverage, warm-up, and receive a brief orientation about the day's projects.

You may sign up for this event and show up with our barcode ticket as long as the event is not sold out.

Direction to Zoo from downtown SF (45 minutes)

Take MUNI train #L in the subway and get off at the end station. SF Zoo is right around there.

Renew the Zoo projects involve landscaping and clean-up work that may include digging, planting, weeding, raking,  general grounds clean-up, or similar tasks. If you are participating with an organized group, all the members of your group will be assigned to the same project. Larger groups may be split into two project areas.  

At the conclusion of your work, Renew the Zoo participants receive a voucher good for that day's admission, a free ride on the carousel and the Little Puffer train, and other discounts at Zoo concessions, many of the groups who participate do so as part of an all-day visit to the Zoo.   

The San Francisco Zoo, housing more than 260 animal species, is located in the southwestern corner of San Francisco, California nestled between Lake Merced and the Pacific Ocean along the Great Highway. The zoo's main entrance, once located on the north side across the street from the defunct Doggie Diner, and one block south of the Muni Metro L Taraval line, is now to the west on the ocean side of the zoo off of the Great Highway.
